Possums will lick the egg shell clean. Chickens, however, are more likely to make a mess. So you'll find the culprits with egg on their faces (literally and figuratively!). Drying the shells and grinding them to mis with oyster shell is a good way to boost their calcium. They may not eat it when its mixed with feed. They will not stop eating eggs once they've started. But they'll be healthier - especially if they're organic!

I second what Dave said about the Nite Guard. It worked perfectly for us. It will work wonders IF (big IF) your raccoon came at night-the units don't come on during the day. Mine also burned out in less than a year which was disappointing.

Moth balls keep some predators away because of the small. Something good that keeps some predators away during the night are Nite Guard type products. You can get them at amazon and they're not that expensive. <code><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014FGT8C/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=mobitoda-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0014FGT8C" rel="nofollow">Nite Guard Solar NG-001 Predator Control Light, Single Pack</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=mobitoda-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B0014FGT8C" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

My best "trade?" Giving eggs to a dear friend going through chemo. It was about all he could eat. The trade? I felt that i was doing something. Recently I had surgery and friends brought meals. They went home with cartons of eggs. Eggs = compassion and care.

Thank you for trying to clear this up. Unfortunately, some of your information is wrong. Araucana is spelled this way and not how you have it. Araucanas and Ameraucanas ONLY lay blue eggs. If they lay any other color (especially pink, white or brown as stated), they are not an Araucana or an Ameraucana. Their eggs may have a tint of teal or green but it is blue. And only blue. There are more differences than indicated between the two breeds. Ameraucanas should not have black legs, only slate or a willow color on the Wheaten color. Ameraucanas have muffs or beards. Also, the picture you have for Ameraucana is actually an Easter Egger. That is not an approved color for Ameraucanas and it does not have a pea comb. Sorry if I'm overstepping, but as a breeder of Ameraucanas, I battle these misconceptions all the time. I would hope you'd want to have the correct information out there!
